Power-cut protection: what should I check?

The lights came back on. One appliance did not.

After a power cut, an appliance develops a fault. It is tempting to say “My insurance will cover it.” The right answer needs evidence first.

Follow DEDDIE’s guidance and do not interfere with the meter or installation. Ask a qualified electrician about protecting sensitive equipment.

Keep the date, receipts and technical findings. Ask your adviser to check the actual cover in your policy.

Remember this

Prepare beforehand. Confirm cover through the policy terms.
